A huge tome， this may well be the ultimate guide to the comic book history of The Dark Knight。 This is a massive coffee table book that you'll have to keep on a table， a music stand or have two people hold up while you browse through it。 It covers 75 years of Batman history and gives you a basic breakdown of close to 1500 seminal comic books， with huge artwork and even other Batman events， like films， TV shows and video games mentioned in brief blurbs for every year。 After reading through this （ A huge tome， this may well be the ultimate guide to the comic book history of The Dark Knight。 This is a massive coffee table book that you'll have to keep on a table， a music stand or have two people hold up while you browse through it。 It covers 75 years of Batman history and gives you a basic breakdown of close to 1500 seminal comic books， with huge artwork and even other Batman events， like films， TV shows and video games mentioned in brief blurbs for every year。 After reading through this （which took a very long time）， I feel like a Batman historian in the making。 This is only for the nerdiest， most dedicated lifelong Batman/comic book fans you know， but you can also throw it up at parties if you're arguing over what year Clayface or Manbat made their debut in， or what issue saw the death of Robin。 It's almost too large to read comfortably， but an amazing book that Batman fans will take out another mortgage for。 Fantastic overall。 。。。more

If there is a better history of the Batman comic books， I haven't found it。 Matthew K。 Manning with dditional text by Matt Forbeck， has pulled out all the stops on this one。 Year to year synopsis of story lines， full credit to artists and writers， beautiful enlargements of key art， and also notates significant events in the Bat-Family's lives （Nightwing， Robin， Batgirl et all）as well。DK has put together a durable product as well。 The paper is so thick I thought I was turning more than one page m If there is a better history of the Batman comic books， I haven't found it。 Matthew K。 Manning with dditional text by Matt Forbeck， has pulled out all the stops on this one。 Year to year synopsis of story lines， full credit to artists and writers， beautiful enlargements of key art， and also notates significant events in the Bat-Family's lives （Nightwing， Robin， Batgirl et all）as well。DK has put together a durable product as well。 The paper is so thick I thought I was turning more than one page more than once。 Checked it our from the library and despite a couple of spine breaks （I HATE spine breaks）the book was holding together well。If you are any sort of Bat-fan， this book has everything you need。 It makes me want to do a re-read of my entire Batman comic collection。 。。。more
